Cernush? map case is located between Mitrovica and Vushtrri (Kosovo). The southwestern part belongs to the northwestern edge of the Kosovo Basin, whereas the remainder of the map-case is characterized with hill-type reliefs. Part of the mountainous relief are the peaks of Stremenica (1064m), ?uka (1036m), and Cernusha (1009m). Cernusha map-case is subject to average continental climate, hot summers and cold winters. In the Cernusha map-case, quaternary deposits hold around 15% of the surface and are made of Holocene diluvia, Holocene alluvia, river terrace deposits, sands and gravels from Pleistocene era. Lower Pliocene deposits are spread in the southern, central and southwestern parts of the map-case.
The volcanic complex holds a considerable surface of around 35% in the northern and central part of the Cernusha map-case. This complex is made of pyroclastic depositions and latite dykes, has a restricted trachyte outlet. The Jurassic is presented by the ophyolitic m?lange with mostly basalt blocks. The Triassic is represented by limestone deficiencies of the upper Triassic, filets, basalts and meta-basalts. Metamorphic formations of upper Paleozoic cover around 9% of the case-map, presented by clastic meta-sediments, marbles, calcites, quartzite and meta-basalts.
The samples for chemical analyses are selected in their fresh facies, in order for the analysis to be representative of the rock at the time of its formation. The main components identified in the main mineralogical phases areSiO2,Al2O3,Fe2O3, CaO,MgO,Na2O, K2O and other mineralogical phases under 1%.
