Simulation and training technologies offer new opportunities for improving the quality of teaching at universities. The introduction of new progressive teaching is based on simulation and situational methods. Simulation methods create a playful character of the situation without a confrontational character, as is the case in real life. It makes it easier for students to move forward and gain insight. Situational methods are procedures for problem solving of model situations. Their basis is based on a real extraordinary or crisis events that has happened in the past. The article highlights the use of simulations in preparing students at handling extraordinary event at the level of tactical, operational and strategic management. By uniting the simulation technologies used at above mentioned levels of management, we have the opportunity to study the preparation and handling of extraordinary or crisis events in all fields of safety management at Faculty of Safety Engineering, V?B- Technical University of Ostrava.
