In the era of unpredictably rapid changes, the idea of sustainable development is an expression of concern regarding the direction in which humanity is developing. The idea is built upon the feeling of need to take radical steps to revitalise the seriously damaged security environment of the modern man, in order to influence its future, free from threats.
The multi-dimensionality of globalisation processes, which influence the economy, politics, ecology, information and the socio-cultural field, among others, forces us to look from a broader angle at the existing mechanisms ?including those related to security ?which are characterised by the deteritorialisation of social phenomena and processes, the existence of a supranational social space, as well as generating a new, unified quality of life for humans on both an individual and collective level. Analysing the issue at hand from the point of view of caring for a safe present and future of security subjects, sustainable development should be perceived as an alternative to the negatively assessed modern developmental megatrends, globalisation processes chief among them. |
