The unique properties of aerogels make them promising materials for use in various
industries. The production lines, which are currently organized by foreign companies, are aimed at obtaining exclusively monoliths and blankets of aerogels of certain sizes. However, for many potential applications, forms other than monoliths, namely particles, are required. In many works, the prospects and relevance of the use of organic aerogel particles for pharmaceuticals (drug delivery systems), medicine (medical products), food industry (carriers of vitamin supplements, etc.) are shown. Thus, the goal of this work was to study the processes of obtaining particles of organic aerogels using laboratory and semi-industrial equipment for the predictive assessment of the possibility of a scale transition to the industrial level. A complex study of the processes of obtaining gel particles based on polysaccharide sodium alginate by various methods was carried out:emulsion-gelation and dripping. The final stage is supercritical drying in a carbon dioxide medium. The factors influencing the characteristics of the obtained materials are estimated. The studied methods for the preparation of sodium alginate gel particles are realized at a semi-industrial level using high pressure homogenization and spraying through pneumatic nozzles. The process of supercritical drying of the gel particles was carried out using equipment of various sizes, namely supercritical apparatuses with volumes of 0.25L and 2L. The results of experimental studies have shown that the scale transition preserves the necessary characteristics and quality of aerogels produced. An assessment of the scale transition showed a high prospect for the production of aerogels on a semi-industrial scale. The carried out researches can be used for creation of industrial manufacture of aerogel particles on the basis of sodium alginate. |
