RESEARCH REGARDING THE INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF HORMONES ON REPRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCES OF EUROPEAN CATFISH (SILURUS GLANIS L.)

The paper presents the results of the experiments conducted to study the effect of stimulating maturation and ovulation with different types of hormones on the main parameters characterizing the artificial reproduction process of Silurus glanis L. European catfish used in artificial breeding experiments (body weight = 4.0 - 10.0 kg / ex., age 5-8 years) were raised in ponds within the experimental base of the Fish Culture Research and Development Station Nucet, Romania. For induction of maturation and ovulation, carp pituitary extract (CPE) and Nerestin 7A were used. Hormonal stimulation with carp pituitary extract (CPE) was done in two doses in females (total dose = 3.5-4 mg / kg body weight , respectively, first dose - 20%, after 12 hours, second dose 80 %); in males a single dose (1 mg / kg body weight). Hormonal stimulation with Nerestin 7A in females was done in two doses (total dose = 0.2 ml / kg body weight, respectively, first dose - 20%, after 12 hours, 80% second dose); in males a single dose (0.1 ml / kg body weight). Reproductive performance was assessed by analysis of the following indices: mean weights of females; the percentage of maturation of females; average spawning/matured female; percentage of eggs fertilization; percentage of hatching; the number of viable larvae / mature female; survival percentage from the fertilized phase to the viable larval stage. From the analysis of the obtained data, it was found that the values of the paramers studied are superior when using Nerestin 7A, compared to carp pituitary extract (CPE).
