Electric discharge technology (EDT) has ample opportunities in the field of geotechnical construction. It has a number of technological advantages. EDT bored piles have increased bearing capacity both for the soil and for the material due to the maximum inclusion of the surrounding soil in the combined action. Unlike other types of piles, the cross section of an EDT pile has additional areas of cementation and compaction. Due to these areas, specific bearing capacity for the soil of these piles exceeds the bearing capacity of other types of piles by two or more times. This property is especially important in the object rebuilding in case of the addition of floors. When using EDT piles, the number of additional floors can be increased by several times compared to other types of bored piles with the same parameters (diameter, depth). This paper contains an example of application of EDT bored piles in the addition of four floors to the two-story public building. This paper is a review.
