This paper described results of the research in the field of organic based raw materials from the textile industry for the production of vacuum insulating panels (VIP) with extremely low thermal conductivity value. The paper presents current research findings on the behavior of fibrous structures on an organic basis at extremely low pressure. The practical findings and results of experimental work on the production and behavior of vacuum insulating panels with an alternative core insulant based on organic / natural fibers are also presented.
These materials show a very high potential in the manufacture of vacuum insulating panels. The advantage here is, in particular, very low fiber thickness and low thermal conductivity of organic fibers compared to inorganic fibers (for example, glass fibers). As a disadvantage, the often more complex form of fibers and the lower purity of the fibers (especially in the case of natural fibers), which often results in deterioration of the properties of the VIP in time and the degradation of the thermal insulation properties
