Romania has an important rail network, of public use, consisting of about 10764 km of railway, some of which are affected by instability phenomena. Although the percentage of areas affected by instability in the entire network is insignificant, railway sections have some peculiarities, any difference in the order of the centrimetres appearing at the upper level of the rail can lead to the closing of the line, with important financial consequnce. The surface, affected by the instability phenomen was about 4,000m2, it had a length of approximately 85m in the axis (perpendicular to the railway) and a width of about 50m. The general characteristic of the phenomenon of instability is the fact that the phenomenon evolved in two separate phenomens of instability, the first phenomenon being detected at the top of the slope and consisting of the appearance of a sliding surface, the material slipping into the middle of the slope and creating several tears and cracks on the slope, and the second phenomenon is seen from its median area to the base and consisting from a flow of the material on the slope to its base (the left bank of the Bradet stream). Geotechnical investigation consisted of both field observations and execution of geotechnical surveys namely boreholes with depth between 2.0-11.6 meters. This paper presents the results of complex geotechnical investigations such as slope stability analysis and remedial measures executed in the investigated area.
