The study considers technologies to create information system called «Monitoring of pollutants in Arctic ecosystems» for the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute (MMBI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences. This research is aimed at designing a database and its web-client to provide remote access. Datasets on radionuclide distribution available at MMBI were analyzed to be included into the database. PostgreSQL and R language packages are shown to be appropriate and efficient solutions for information management infrastructure taking into account data formats used when conducting complex monitoring of Arctic marine ecosystems during MMBI cruises to arctic seas (both retrospective and prospective). Then the paper discusses entities, relations, and JSON data types used to organize observations storage in the database. Web application provides a user-friendly interface allowing quick selections of data based on particular water areas, observation periods, ingredients (characteristics), and various types of data analysis within machine learning frameworks. As a result, a user will be able to analyze trends, and seasonal and random components of time series of measured pollution indices of the marine environment, conduct zoning of water areas, as well as get additional information to make technical and organizational decisions aimed at minimizing risks of environmental degradation. The practical value is defined by the possibility to use the abovementioned information products in such fields as marine biology, ecology, fisheries, goods transportation, etc.
