The utilization of different waste materials in concrete as partial replacement of cement or filler is having importance today, mainly on account of the improvements in the long-term durability of cement composites combined with ecological benefits. Fly ash (FA), Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBS), Silica Fume (SF) or High Reactive Metakaolin (HRM) is materials, which confirm to these requirements. However, a number of case studies with other waste materials are described in the literature as well. Copper slag is among the waste materials less used in experiments for application in construction. In this paper will be presented results which have been conducted on composites mixes with partially substitution of natural filler by 16%, 33 %, 50% and 100% copper slag. The influence of this waste material on density, flexural tensile and compressive strength and another technological property such as workability of experimental composites was studied. At the same time, parallel experiment was provided with the same percentage replacement of filler by copper slag (CS) after their alkali activation as well. The results confirm the possible utilization of the studied waste in the building practice, but also the need to verify the development of their properties over time.
