Study of the hydrogeological responses during seismic waves' passage let us to take insight on hydrogeological and tectonic processes inside the Earth and their interactions as well. Earthquakes may cause both postseismic and coseismic changes of the water level. As a rule, static postseismic hydrogeological responses are typical for the near field of earthquakes, whereas dynamical postseismic or/and coseismic changes correspond to the far field. However, the exact parameters responsible for the water level response remain largely unknown. This paper reviews water level changes in the far field to strong earthquakes with magnitude 6.1-9.1 at the epicentral distances in the range of 1800-16500 km. The precise water level monitoring is carried out in two wells within aseismic region in platform conditions (Moscow region, Mikhnevo geophysical observatory). Water level responses to about 40 earthquakes were recorded in confined (since 2008) and unconfined (since 2013) aquifers during measuring period. Recorded coseismic oscillations of water level are synchronous with ground velocity of earthquake surface waves. Moreover, water level variations in platform conditions are consistent with published data obtained in seismically active regions and supplement the world database of hydrogeological responses to remote earthquakes at the distances more than 1000 km.
