As a rule, buildings make an impact on their surroundings. Industrial and manufacturing facilities obviously create the most severe problems. This is due to the technological processes involved, the need to ensure transportation routes to provide supplies and the necessity to handle waste products. Residential buildings are not normally considered in terms of being a threat to the environment, although their large agglomerations are likely to give rise to many problems and are not neutral to the environment. This paper presents results of a field study dedicated to consequences of locating large housing estates near natural environment habitats. It has been discovered that large assemblages of residents, using motor vehicles for transport, can pose a threat to the nearest environs.
