Lately, the focus is on equipping the constructions with sensors for monitoring deformations and displacements, the most common measurement systems are arrays of accelerometers. Recent literature focuses on wireless and mobile technologies for transmitting data from such sensors, combining several systems and measurement methods. This paper analize the possibility of using the interferometric radar tehnology to determine the vibrations and deformations of works of art especially bridges. Terrestrial radar interferometry allows the instantaneous and simultaneous determination of variations in distances between the observation station and a set of points on the monitored object at a 0.1 mm accuracy level. The article presents the measurement principle in the 1D field with the interferometric radar IBIS-FS system, and the results obtained from the records to detect the dynamical vertical evolution of a bridge when passing heavier vehicles and the vertical movements of the caracteristic points on a metallic railway bridge at train passage. In the article are presented briefly outline the measurement principle of this instrument and the criteria underlying the geometry setting for the optimal choice of the observation point.
