This paper presents a comparative analysis using Finite Element Method (F.E.M.) of the foundations with different shapes (cylindrical, truncated cone and hemispherical plate), placed on cohesionless soils with different compaction degrees. The comparison was performed function of the bearing capacity and of the states of stress and deformation that appear in the foundation ground for different load steps to which the foundations are subjected. The foundation systems studied in this paper consist in foundations realized as special-shape prefabricated elements, placed in dug up holes (the hole was realized by removing the soil by digging), in punched holes without a bulb (the hole was realized by compacting the soil vertically and sideways with the help of a hammer shaped in the foundation soffit) and in punched holes with bulb. The solution of realizing punched foundation holes is easy, efficient and aims at avoiding the use of an indirect foundation system which is much more expensive and difficult, needing special equipment of high capacity (pile drivers, drills), that would block the location for a long time altering the environment. The prefabricated foundations have different shapes (cylindrical plate, hemispherical and truncated cone elements) are shown in this paper. The conclusions on the issues discussed are presented at the end of the paper.
