This article considers the methodical provisions of geomechanical analysis of a change in the stress-strain state of the undermined saliferous mass over time. The mathematical modeling of deformation and destruction of the water-blocking strata (WBS) has been carried out in the elastic-plastic setting for plane-strain conditions (PS). The safe conditions of undermining of the water-blocking strata (WBS) have been assessed and the geomechanical justification of used additional protective measures has been made in the course of development of the displacement over time by using the mathematical modeling methods with the use of the Mohr-Coulomb criteria and ultimate tension stresses. A potential possibility of formation of subvertical fractures in the undermined mass has been analyzed; such fractures play a major role in the formation of water supply channels within the WBS range. This article also presents the results of the geomechanical calculations of preservation of the WBS beds when using protective measures, a case of the Upper Kama potash-magnesium salt deposit (UKPMSD).
