It is known that high molecular weight paraffins are responsible for the settling out of deposits of asphalts, resins, and paraffins (ARP) and the trouble of their removal. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effeciency of narrow straight-run oil fractions by the dissolution of ARP deposits with a different composition of solid paraffins. For the experiment, two ARP samples with a solid paraffin content of 59.0% (Sample 1) and 34.2 % (Sample 2) were taken. Narrow straight-run fractions were selected as the solvents, which was obtained by the distillation from the same crude oil having boiling range 60-95°?, 95-122°?, 122-150°?, 150-200°?. Calorimetry and gas-liquid chromatography methods were used to study the quantitative and qualitative compositions of solid paraffins from ARP deposits, that was extracted on the stage of deposition and washout of asphaltene and from oil fractions. Paraffins from ARP deposits were characterized by the GL chromatography method. Their melting points were determined. The efficiency of narrow petroleum fractions was estimated by the method of brass baskets with a mesh size of 1.0 mm (static mode, temperature 30°C, contact time 3 hours). The efficiency of the solvent was determined by percentage changing of the sample mass in a result of its dissolution and dispersion in a certain volume of the solvent. It was found the most efficient fraction. Various dependences of the efficiency of straight-run petroleum fractions on their average boiling point have been established for the dissolution of ARP deposits with different quantitative and qualitative composition of solid paraffins.
