The deviation from the design shape of an underground structure cross-section and its influence on the structure stress state are under consideration. External loads, corrosion and peculiarities of construction techniques, are assumed as the most probable causes of the deviation. The influence of shape changing is estimated by the analytical design method for multilayer underground structures with layers of variable thickness. The method is based on a rigorous analytical solution of the corresponding plane problem of elasticity theory. The problem has been solved using theory of functions of complex variables, conformal mappings and Faber polynomials. The following examples of the design are under consideration: the sewer tunnel lining corroded in the upper part by sulphuric acid produced by thiobacteria, the lining of a tunnel driven by shield technology and the shaft support subjected to re-freeze load. Dependencies of stresses on parameters of the form deviation are shown.
