In paper the most important input variable revolutions (rpm) of drilling tool is analyzed by utilization of Shewhart control chart. The revolutions of drilling tools have a double meaning, in term of the performance and economics. Two measured variable namely pressure force F (N) and speed of rock drilling v (mm.s-1) closely related with revolutions. In general, control charts are used as a proven means to improve the qualitative parameters of production and in the prevention of errors, discrepancies in production and in the production process. Control charts help to avoid unprofitable respectively, unnecessary adjustment of equipment, production lines where the relevant process is stable, which could create downtime and increase the cost of the production process, which is undesirable economic effect. In addition, they also ensure continuous diagnostic data about the variability of processes and enable to obtain information about the reliability of the processes being monitored. The paper presents the results from the application of control charts on the drilling process.
