Computer simulation is substitution of original object by another one in order to obtain information about the most important properties of the original object using the object model. Depending on the purpose, the simulation can be made on two levels: on the qualitative and quantitative. Accordingly, descriptive or constructive models are used. Mathematical modeling is always performed quantitatively using design patterns.
This article describes the modeling of computer networks and their parameterization. One of the most important parameters of computer network models is traffic intensity. The random value distribution law is used for creating an adequate models of real systems. In this article we discuss the law of distribution of packet size on different systems. The conducted researches allow to draw a conclusion about influence of division of a range of the size of packages on several shorter ranges which allows to reduce the standard deviation. The deviation of the model from the original decreases, and in turn, the simulation yields adequate results. |
