With regard to the ever-increasing road traffic density, the demands on the transport infrastructure are also increasing, or more precisely on its quality. For this reason, even a slightly damaged road surface is often considered unsatisfactory and its reconstruction is necessary. Increasing the amount of heavy and especially overloaded vehicles has a significant impact on the life of the roads, as they cause permanent deformation of the surface layers of the road. A further significant influence is represented by the climatic conditions that, especially in the winter months, cause cracks and losses of covering material, which leads to the formation of deep potholes. A solid and undamaged roadway has a direct effect on road safety and also on the comfort of transport. Road repairs in terms of removing the shallow permanent deformation are carried out by opening the upper layers of the road surface and by replacing them. The more extensive damages that are typically associated with problems in the subsoil are fixed during the complete reconstruction of the road. For this reason, it is often necessary to disconnect the majority of layers on the road. In this case, however, individual layers are often mixed and the process of material recycling is becoming more difficult. The article deals with the possibilities of disconnecting roads, focusing on the cold milling method.
