This article deals with the spatial position of tracks surveying using a measuring truck and automatic total station. At the beginning of work it was necessary to gain theoretical knowledge on geodetic activities carried out in the process of reconstruction works on the track surface, and to define the concept of the geometric position of the track. Collecting necessary design documentation is an essential part of the whole measuring process. Adherence to the specified accuracies and deviations in the Slovak Technical Standard (hereinafter referred to as STS) is an important part of measurement. By choosing an appropriate method of measurement and instrumentation a data file has been compiled, which was subsequently processed using the program Rail. From these measured values, displayed in graphical and computer programs, we have obtained a graphical illustration of the track position before the definite and after definite posting, i.e. a graphic representation of tracks before and after laying. Track laying shall be carried out using automatic ballast tampers, stabilizers and mount plows for ballast beds.
