In this paper a new method of dual-polarimetric SAR image coregistration procedures is proposed. Both cases - coarse and fine coregistration are considered. In the proposed approaches the widely used coherence parameter is not applied. Instead, the dual-polarimetric signatures are exploited. They allow to identify location of strong point scatterers within the SAR images. These scatterers can be further used in coregistration procedure as reference points. The developed algorithms described in this work were tested for dual-polarimetric RADARSAT-2 data acquired over the Warsaw city. The obtained results were compared with the classical approach of coregistration procedure that is implemented in DORIS software.
