The purpose of this paper is the time tracking behaviour of hydrotechnical structures by establishing basic displacements to basic slice and previous vertical slice, processing these measurements and draw conclusions on the behaviour of the analyzed works. As a case study was elected the Vidraru dam located in Arges County, being one of the most important dams in Romania. The Vidraru dam, built on the Arges River, is an "arch" dam with double curvature, being the highest concrete dam in Romania. The storage lake formed has a volume of 465 mil m3 of water, being the second largest on inland rivers in the country. The dam allows operation of the Corbeni underground power station (located approx. 160m, underground) with an output of 220 MW in installation and an average energy of 400 Wh / year. Field measurements were conducted during September-December 2016, after which the data were processed at the office with software specifically developed for this purpose. For levelling measurements were used levels Leica Sprinter 250M, 3m staffs with special codes and a set of two levelling foot plate of 6 kg each. Determining heights using this level is achieved with a standard deviation of 0.7 mm per double km of levelling. The measurement method for detecting vertical displacements has been the middle geometric levelling, with 2 horizons. The high precision geometric levelling traverses was carried out on the basis of technical requirements of the 0 order geometric levelling
