This work presents improvement of land subsidence monitoring obtained by combining results of Sentinel-1A and Sentinel-1B data processing. In presented work DInSAR (Differential Interferometry SAR) technique was used. Results of DInSAR technique provide information about values of vertical deformation of the surface. Using this technique the areas endangered by subsidence phenomenon can be identified and appropriate steps in order to save the infrastructure, buildings, roads, and also human life can be taken. The subsidence monitoring is especially important in the areas where active underground coal mines occurs. In Poland, the Upper Silesian Coal Basin (USCB) is the largest active mining region. Due to intensive mining activities in this region, resulting subsidence troughs are very often characterized by dynamic changes. Hence, it is necessary to use high temporal resolution of SAR images in order to observe changes in surface stability and ensure appropriate monitoring of ground subsidence. Thanks to data acquired from Sentinel-1A the differential interferograms could be generated every 12 days. However, since Sentinel-1B was launched, it is possible to obtain data even every 6 days. In this work 12-days interferograms as well as 6-days interferograms are presented for the USCB. Combined analysis of Sentinel-1A and Sentinel-1B data (acquired in Interferometric Wide Swath mode) allows to detect both areas: where ground subsidence occurs rapidly (using 6-days interferograms) and where ground subsidence occurs more slowly but regularly (using 12-days interferograms).
