This paper describes the possibilities, process and results of the electro-optical distance meters (EDM) of the universal measuring station (UMS) testing. A substantial part of this paper is devoted to the principles and procedures for checking and testing of electro-optical distance meters according to the international technical standards STN ISO 17 123-4:2013: Error! Reference source not found.. In the paper are defined the general requirements of the standards. Also is described a simplified and complete testing procedure including the compilation of the test baseline for the EDM and processing of the test results. The conclusion shows the results of the electro-optical distance meters of universal measuring stations Leica TCR 407 and Leica TS30 testing. The presented part of the results allows concluding that the two devices tested according to the full test methodologies complied with the requirement to the technical standards.
