There is known about 57 species of Legionella bacteria which contains at least 79 serogroups. Some of them are considered as a potential human pathogens. Legionella occurs in natural and artificial water environment, especially in technical water supplies. The main cause of infection is an inhalation of aerosol infected by the bacteria. The preliminary research was performed. The main purpose was verification of bacteria from Legionella group occurrence in hot water installations, in public buildings and assessment of the influence of way of water usage and type of installation on the obtained results. In this experiment, during one day samples from 5 taps were collected from selected buildings. All samples were collected by qualified person according to ISO 19458 standard. Samples were put into coldbox with cooling cartridge and delivered to the laboratory during 24 hours. The analyses of Legionella amount were performed in microbiological laboratory Wessling Polska according to ISO 11731, using membrane filtration method of the 100 ml of sample. Results of experiment show the influence of type of installation and water temperature on the Legionella occurrence in useful water. To prove this conclusion research will be expanded.
