River bed processes include the flow and entrainment, transport and deposition of sediment particles on the river bed. The morphology of alluvial river channels is determinate by complex interaction between of constituent physical processes: flow, sediment transport and river bed deformation.
Under natural conditions, rivers tend to achieve a relatively stable combination between different variables that characterize them: liquid flow, solid flow, hydraulic slope of river, sedimentological characteristics of the riverbed and banks, riparian vegetation which condition the possibilities for lateral migration of river bed, bed width, average depth, maximum depth, bottom slope, water velocity, spatial distribution of the major forms of flow energy dissipation, sinuosity route plan, the average diameter of sediment, expanding percentage of fines particles (clay, powder) in composition of grading alluvial material, the wavelength of sinuosity. Results of riverbed processes are: cross section changing, aggradations and degradation of riverbed, riverbed bottom paving phenomenon - change riverbed particle size, silt movement, appearance dunes and rifles.
Numerical simulations of flow and sediment transport with advanced hydroinformatic tools are often the most efficient and practical methods for predicting river bed characteristics in complex hydrotechnical systems. Numerical modelling requires descriptions of the individual processes involved in sediment transport: particle entrainment, movement and deposition in the water column. This paper analyzes the necessity and possibility of these river bed processes modelling with advanced hydroinformatic tool. The study case shows the river bed processes modelling on Crasna river sector. For the modelling are use MIKE11 by DHI software, HD and ST module. On the ground of obtained results from modelling, can be identified sectors with problems in terms of river bed erosion and silting.
