The Romanian Ministry of Tourism as the National Tourism Administration, member of the Romanian Government, is in charge of coordination and implementation of the general tourism development strategy. Among other specific domains, thalassotherapy is a new desired touristic sector designed by Ministry of Tourism and local authorities, (Tourism Promotion Office and Licensing and Classification Office) as well as the private sector (NGO?s related to the tourism industry). This has a major role in the balneary tourism which will extend the summery touristic season, which in Romania is only 3 month.
For this reason, one important issue is to agree upon were the new touristic facilities development should be. Because in the Romania touristic littoral were made several studies on the wave?s development trends, now was considerate an increased natural field of waves and currents in definite regions. Thus, new protection measures are necessary to enhance the transformation of the intense wave processes in the near shore area, in order to offer the special environment characteristics for the balneary touristic development. In order to find the specific thalassotherapy sites along the Romanian littoral, monitoring activities and certain modelling tools were used.
The present work shows affirmative results obtained for of such bating areas were the coastal hydrodynamics are high and suitable for a solution of enhancement of the specific balneary and sport activities. This needs to be realized in a sustainable way as the basic concept for the coastal touristic strategy of Dobrogea region.
