The main purpose of this work was to determine the influence of type of sampling container on a chemical composition changes of geothermal water. Current research conducted on a bottled waters indicated that, from the vessel walls to water stored in a bottle are transferred various pollutants, mainly the elements such as: arsenic, chromium and antimony [1-3]. Waters with a natural high temperature can intensify mentioned process. The experiment was conducted on the samples of geothermal water collected from the PGP-1 well, located in Ba?ska Ni?na, Lesser Poland voivodship. The mineralization of investigated water is about 3 mg/L, temperature on outflow is 86°C and the hydrogeochemical type is SO4-Cl-Na-Ca.According to the procedures established in PN-EN ISO 5667 norm series, tips contained in publication of Witczak et al. [4], the key element during studies of the chemical composition changes is to ensure that the criteria of representability of collected samples are fulfilled. The containers used to collect water samples should be characterized by a chemical and biological neutrality toward to analysed components.
Samples were collected to PE containers which are used for standard groundwater sampling and the series of plastic and glasses containers in different colours. The results of analyses allowed for the evaluation of influence of type and colour sampling containers used in conducted research on a chemical composition collected water samples.
The analyses indicated that there are significant differences in concentrations of arsenic, chromium and antimony dependent on container type and colour.
