Each building structure is rested on the foundation surface, so it is necessary to analyze these structures in interaction with subsoil. From the historical viewpoint, the most used is the Winkler model. Later two-parametric models of subsoil had been introduced, implementing the effect of shear forces and impact of subgrade around the foundation into the calculation. Other models are based on the theory of elastic half-space. The use of FEM introduced a lot of advantages to model structures in the interaction with the subsoil. It allows the inhomogeneous subsoil (layered), anisotropy to be implemented into the calculation. Such a plate can be modelled in different ways. One possible way is one-parametric ? Winkler?s model of subsoil. For such a model there are various methods of calculating the stiffness of the soil shown in the paper. The foundation plate rested on layered subsoil was modelled in ANSYS. It offers a variety of modelling the subsoil in the analysis. One of them is the usage of Shell63 element, which allows considering the ground mass into the analysis. Finally some results of the foundation plate rested on layered subsoil (deterministic and probabilistic approach) for the second limit state are briefly presented.
