In order to ensure energy security, at national level, coal constitutes an important source, though its share in the energy mix is reduced in the past few years in favor of clean technologies and on the background of the fall in the energy consumption.
Where can be located in the project of energy security, the production of coal, exploited in the mining units in the Jiu Valley and valorized at the two power plants, Mintia and Paroseni-components of the Hunedoara Energy Complex, amid the request for intervention for declaring insolvency, considering the climate international diplomacy, the US-Russian diplomacy, the construction of new nuclear energy targets in the neighboring country, and the continuing increase in the price of natural gas?
There are economic arguments to demonstrate the profitability of the operation to continue the reserves of coal, with the current methods of extraction and without the allocation of State aid in terms of safety and health at work of staff of the worker and with old human resources?
What would be the scenario social and economic and social security, of the population of the Jiu Valley in the circumstances in which, the exploitation activity will be restructured by closing two exploits from the six existing ones in 2018, plus the start of the closure program for yet another two mining objectives?
The work of front proposes to analyze the current situation of the activity of closing unprofitable mines in the Jiu Valley and the identification of reasoning in the context of the energy development to continue the coalmining in this complex industry.
