The paper presents a description of materials and available data as well as research methods which permitted the development of a complex data base allowing for the analysis of the spatial variability of soil properties in Poland. A data base was developed for the Czermin commune with the application of data on soils available in the State Surveying and Cartographic Resource database. Field and laboratory research were carried out, as well as spatial analyses. They provided the basis for the preparation of a map of the grain structure, and spatial variability, and fuzziness of soils.
Analysis of the data contained in the register of land and information from soil-agricultural maps enabled the creation a reliable and credible database for the municipality Czermin in Poland. The buffer analysis method permitted the identification of the group of factors determining the spatial variability of soils as well as attempts to interpolate the factors determining the spatial variability of soil that allows to avoid carrying out time-consuming and cost-intensive field and laboratory researches.
