The article shows methodology and principles of the system monitoring and integrated assessment of forestlands on the basis of the submission of such lands as a source of biological resources (including wood) and also as environment-forming and social functions source. Systematic monitoring of forestland is expressed in observations, assessment (in physical indicators) and prediction of all its natural resources potential. Scientific principles for a comprehensive assessment of forestlands include justification for the accumulation and economic equivalents of forest goods, methodological assessment support, including the formation of the economic criterion of assessment by considering the features of forest forming process and the legal status of lands. The principles in the general sense, are the main assumptions of scientific theory, in accordance with the methodology. Scientific and technological principles of a systematic monitoring of forestlands include fixation and collection, accumulation and systematization of physical indicators of forestland in the course of its long-term economic (industrial) use, presentation of information in accordance with the administrative-territorial and climatic arrangement of forestland fund, the ecological state of vegetation, soil, water, taking into account the cumulative damage, the features of economic development and social needs of the territory.
Presented results of the integrated (environmental and economic) assessment of forest of the Middle Urals.
