The paper presents a proposal for validation of a numerical model of a sedimentation process with use of a flow system. The essence of the proposed solution is to verify the numerical model using quantitative data, expressed by the flow rate and concentration of the suspension at the input and output of the device, as well as the qualitative data describing their granulometric composition. The analysis was carried out using a laboratory settler, as a sedimentation device, in which, during the purification process of the suspension, the process of its separation takes place simultaneously. The analysis was carried out for the range of suspension concentrations classifying its sedimentation process in the transition area between free and hindered sediment. Obtaining full quantitative and qualitative modeling of the system in a laboratory scale will determine whether the result of the simulation is reliable and at the same time allow to use the determined parameters of the model to perform the numerical simulation of the actual system operation.
