The article covers the theory of gravity separation suspension flows. The indicated factors affect the separation processes. The proposed criterion estimates the possibilities of dividing the hydraulic separation coefficient, which is alternative the equal fall coefficient, but taking into account the influence of the particle shape. The calculations results are shown which are indicated greater the flattened particles separation in the gravitational-centrifugal devices. The greatest interest is comparing of recovery level of fine and flattened particles using different gravity devices, such as spiral and jig. The subject of research was a sample of tail of placer washing taken from Konder platinum deposit in the Far East of Russia. In the study the PGM particles was recovered from jig and spiral concentrates. The theoretical insights are confirmed by experimental data; using them we can make a conclusion about the legality of the proposed coefficient application of hydraulic separation.
