An ecosystem cannot be fully and effectively described simply by simple mathematical rules. Sustainability is difficult to define or measure because it is inherently vague and complex.
This paper presents a neuro-fuzzy model, which uses data from different parameters to monitor and assess a certain ecosystem. If classic mathematical methods cannot provide solutions of uncertain data and treating vague situations, a possible solution to represent these conditions may be the use of neuro-fuzzy approach. Therefore, a neuro-fuzzy model has been developed that has used the principles of environmental integrity and neuro-fuzzy reasoning as basic indicators to monitor an ecosystem and ensure sustainability measures. The method can be used as a potential tool to make responsible decisions to assess or to anticipate the impact of their actions on the environment. |
