Co-operation of renewable energy sources (photovoltaic cells or micro-wind turbines) with 230V receivers, eg LED substitutions of traditional light sources, requires the conversion of low voltage direct current electricity to 230V AC.
Various designs of DC/AC converters intended for island operation and synchronized with the power grid were tested. The Hioki 3196 energy quality analyzer was used for the study. The stand-alone systems are used in voltage converters of very simple solutions converting DC power to AC power having a rectangular shaped output voltage for solutions that provide sinusoidal voltage. Inverters with non-sinusoidal output voltages can be used to power ineligible receivers (including LEDs for bulb and sodium lamps). During the tests parameters of the inverters during switching on, stable operation, switching off and temporary transients were analyzed. The level of harmonic content in generated output voltage at rated load and partial load was analyzed. Obtained data allowing a comparison of operating parameters surveyed voltage converters. The usability characteristics of individual constructions and their usefulness to the substitution of traditional light sources in street lighting were determined. |
