Halogen derivatives of hydrocarbons - trihalomethanes (THMs), are formed in disinfected swimming pool water? mostly when chlorine compounds are used for the process. THMs have a negative impact on human health because they are carcinogenic and mutagenic. In Poland, the contents of THMs in swimming pool water and air are standardized, the norm for swimming pool water is 100 g/dm3. Several factors can influence the THMs formation in water, but most important are processes and chemicals used for water treatment. The main aim of the study was the comparsion of the trihalomethanes concentration for variety systems of swimming pool water preparation. The results showed that the used water purification system reflects the quality of the swimming pool water for the content of the THM.
