Alkylphenols (APs) are toxic, xenobiotic substances classified as endocrine disruptors, which have a negative effect on the hormonal system of many organisms including humans. APs are among the ubiquitous environmental contaminants and are frequent contaminants in wastewater. Alkylphenols are starting materials for the production of many surfactants and antioxidant stabilizers used in commercial products like detergents, plastics and textiles. They are used in the synthesis of alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) and are also generated by the decomposition of these substances in the environment. APEs are one of the most widely used classes of nonionic surfactants in domestic and industrial products. This paper presents the determination of alkylphenols (bisphenol A, nonylphenol and tert-octylphenol) in water samples based on the SPME-GC-MS method. Optimal parameters for determination of alkylphenols (nonylphenol and tert-octylphenol) in aqueous samples in the SPME mode from the gas phase: extraction coating - 50/30 ?m DVB/CAR/PDMS, extraction temperature - 90°C, extraction time - 5 min, pre-incubation time - 20 minutes, the addition of salt - 1.5 g. Optimal parameters for determining Bisphenol A in aqueous samples in the SPME mode from the gas phase: extraction coating 100 ?m PDMS, extraction temperature 30°?, extraction time - 60 min, preincubation time - 10 min.
The field results revealed high level of Bisphenol A in drinking water samples. The high efficiency of the method ensures its successful application in determination alkylphenols from environmental, drinking water and wastewater.
