Palladium is one of the precious metals which have great economic importance. It is used in many fields such as electrical and electronic industries, corrosion resistant materials, and jewelry due to their specific physical and chemical properties, catalysts in various chemical processes. Due to its importance and high price, it is essential to develop efficient recovery methods for this element especially from water containing trace amount of Pd. Therefore in this work we report studies regarding the removal of Pd ions from aqueous solutions through adsorption onto raw and impregnated Florisil with trihexyl tetradecyl phosphonium chloride ionic liquid (Cyphos IL-101). The impregnation of Florisil with the studied ionic liquid was realized by ultrasonication method. The present paper showed that the impregnation of Cyphos IL-101 onto Florsil is obtained an homogenous adsorbent which develop a maximum adsorption capacity in the removal process of Pd(II) ions from aqueous solutions of 133.3 mg/g, which is two times higher than the adsorption capacity developed by the raw Florisil. The adsorption capacity of the studied materials are dependent by the pH, S:L ratio, stirring time and Pd(II) initial concentration. The adsorption kinetics was better described by pseudo-second-order kinetic model compare to pseudo-first-order model. The experimental data showed good fit to the Langmuir isotherm.
