The most important duties of the marine engines supervisors regarding to the operation of diesel marine engines is maintaining the serviceability of cylinder liners and piston rings of ship engines which includes extremely important process of running in piston rings an liners running after overhauling. During this process proper engine load to be maintained. and cylinder liners lubrication to be properly adjusted. This process can better monitored to avoid mistakes with procedures and can reduce cylinder lubricating oil consumption. This paper presents the application of the ?Alpha Lubricator? system for lubrication of slow speed engine cylinder liners. The process of engine breaking-in and running-in and the setting of the cylinder oil dosage of the selected engines with the ?Alpha Lubricator? system has been analyzed using analysis under piston scavenge drain oil. The obtained running-in results have been shown the possibility to make shorter of the running-in period and reduction of cylinder lubricating oil consumption with guarantee of maintaining proper running-in process. Reduction of cylinder oil consumption will reduce significant cost of vessels operation and will cope with energy conservation policy.
