Food security has been and continues to be a current topic given the fact that, it stands at the base of all issues related of human existence. In this respect it is necessary to analyze the idea of food security on the two levels closely correlated, meaning the qualitative level and quantitative level. Quantitative aspect aimed the insurance of food necessary to meet the physiological needs of the population from the bottom of Maslow pyramid and converging towards meeting other needs found on top of the pyramid steps. The second aspect, the qualitative one, aimed the qualitative structure of the products to ensure a healthy diet. To solve problems related to food security are necessary food sustainable policies that follow linking food consumption capacity of the population to the level of supply with quality food of this. The policies adopted will have to manage in a proper manner issues such as: food availability and ensuring a degree of stability of supply with quality agricultural products, increasing the population incomes and practice of tariffs to reflect price-quality report and allowing population access to food, all this having major implications in terms of providing daily needs of food resulted in daily food basket. Food security issues what shape at global level represents also problems of our country with important implications for ensuring the adequate food supplies of the population to a high quality. In this respect, aspects aimed global warming, desertification and degradation of agricultural land on relatively extensive areas, the financial and economic crisis from recent years, the lack of independence of national food policy, the regional disparities regarding the economic development, the existence of less-favored areas, show a series of implications starting from those concerning food security of Romania, generating even indirect implications, in terms of policies aimed food trade and transfer of tasks from poor areas through the high potential ones and have a surplus of food resources.
