Sustainable development requires a multidimensional approach which takes into account at least three dimensions: economic, social and environmental. The defining characteristics of sustainable agriculture are: increased productivity; economic profitability; food safety and environmental protection. Through this work we try to analyze the influence of predominantly agricultural indicators on sustainable production and consumption in Romania. The study was made based on the statistical data available online, at Tempo-on line, Eurostat.eu. Data refer to a period of 10 years. The studied indicators are represented by: resource productivity, Share of organic crop areas in the utilised agricultural area, Average meat consumption per inhabitant, Livestock density index. The correlation and regression calculation was made with the help of the statistical instrument in Excel, useful in the analysis, simulation and interpretation of results. The value of resource productivity in Romania in the analyzed period has an oscillatory evolution given the dependence on the structure of economy. For avoiding the stagnation and syncope in terms of sustainable production and consumption it is necessary a continues growth at the macroeconomic level.
