This Article includes results of the research performed within the Project ?The Assessment of the Stability of the Socio-economic Development of Cities of Different Population Size in Terms of Geo-Economic Uncertainty (on Materials of Northwest Russia)?. The role of foreign capital in the development of cities of the St. Petersburg coastal region was reviewed, the region was considered within 200 km from coastal line of the Finish Bay. The coastal region acts as a contact area between the sea and the land and is defined by increased density of population, settlements, and economic activity. Due to the neighboring global city ? St. Petersburg ? which unites 5.3 million consumers and the influence of thalasso attractiveness, additional advantages are created for the development of large business including foreign one. This article analyzes the major investment projects implemented in the coastal region of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region; their role and influence on the coastal territories is assessed.
