In this paper, on the basis of meticulous research the relevant literature, as well as empirical research into practice evolved and presented the role of e-learning in contemporary higher education institutions, we examine the possible aspects of the application and the benefits that e-learning provides, as well as to functional problems it can solve in institutes of higher education. The paper?s aim is improving the quality of higher education through the basic elements of e-learning and established models of e-learning while presenting evolving e-learning challenges in educational institutions. Given the relatively small number of research applications of e-learning currently in practice, the paper systematically analyzes and presents examples of e-learning in higher education institutions from the region which indicates the importance of this research.
