The article states that the important purpose of the specialists with industry-specific economic education is to ensure efficient and smooth operation of mining enterprises. Technical and economic features of mining industry have been characterized. Specific features of oil and gas companies have been of a special focus. It has been determined that studying of mining industry economy, analysis and operational effectiveness assessment of its enterprises is impossible without considering industry-specific operational conditions and without studying the mechanisms reflecting the influence of mining and geological, as well as organizational and technical factors on economic efficiency of mining enterprises. Academic subject areas subject to studying some specific external factors on the mining enterprises results have been indicated. Accounting considerations related with mining enterprises have been examined; particularly, cost method of mining costs has been reflected. In view of the previously mentioned, it has been concluded that teaching of economic courses while educating mining economists shall be performed considering industry-specific features of mining enterprises.
