Mesoporous silica nanoparticles have recently attracted researchers? attention by opening a new perspective on the development of new drug delivery systems. Such mesoporous materials are characterized by a uniform distribution of pore size, welldefined walls with a high volume that enables functionalization at the level of silanol group, having a large specific surface and good hydrothermal stability. The objective of this study is the synthesis and characterization of MCM -48 and KIT-6 silicate matrices, biomaterials with 3D cubic structure of pores and optimal functionalization and drug loading properties. Both materials are cubic, highly ordered, presenting a threedimensional pore system with surface size and chemistry adjustable by functionalization according to the aim pursued. In the case of KIT-6 mesoporous silica, pore dimension can also be adjusted by altering the synthesis temperature, thus providing an additional way to control drug substance loading and release. The structural and textural assessment of silica samples was performed by specific methods such as X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption-desorption, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy and TEM technique.
