Nanocomposites have been considered as a stimulating route for creating a new type of high performance material that combines the advantages of polymer and the nanoparticles. Polyamide is well known as an engineering thermoplastic material that is widely used in industrial applications for its good mechanical and thermal properties. The paper presents the study of the new nanostructured polymer composites from polyamide/oxidized graphite nanoparticles-PA/GO to manufacture, by injection, bearing seals, contact plates, and other components for the railway industry, with shock resistance higher than 5-8 kJ/m?, wear resistance below 100 mm3, resistance to temperatures of -40 - 2400C, resistance to impact and to outdoor applications, with temperatures ranging from -40 to +600C, in rain, snow or sunshine. The influence of functionalized graphite nanoparticles (GO) on the rheological properties of the polyamide was studied. The graphite functionalisation consisted in oxidizing the nanoparticles with nitric acid. The nanocomposites polyamide/oxidized graphite were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transformation infrared spectrum (FT-IR) and physico-mechanical.
