The aim of this paper was to obtain some fluid extracts from Romanian wild fruits such us, Cerasus avium L. Moench. (syn. Prunus avium L.), Morus nigra L. and Cornus mas L., with a rich content in polyphenols, carotenoids, vitamins, minerals and an increased antioxidant and antimicrobial activity, which bring important benefits to our health in preventing many diseases arose from free radicals of oxidative stress action. Vegetal fluid extracts obtained from wild fruits, at concentrations 50% v/v ethanol were obtained using cold maceration of fresh fruits, as extraction method for 14 days in a dark cold place. The potential antibacterial or/and antifungal action of the three vegetal fluid extracts against different pathogenic or conditioned pathogenic bacteria and pathogenic fungi (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans) was evaluated by broth microdilution assays, using diffusion method in solid medium, at working solution volume 30 ?L. Bacteria and fungi strains were also tested against classical antibiotics as control. The microbiological determinations displayed antifungal activity against Candida albicans for Cornus mas L. vegetal extract, activity comparable to that of classical antibiotics. The most increased registered antibacterial and antifungal activity, with an inhibition diameter of microbial strain between 7 - 13 mm, was for Cornus mas L. extract sample in 50% v/v ethanol. The selected wild fruits fluid extracts with highest antimicrobial activity would represent a possible new nutritional supplements used in different associated oxidative stress metabolism dysfunctions, in dermato-cosmetics, homeopathic medicines or aromatherapy, with lesser side effects that are often associated with synthetic antimicrobials.
