The aim of the project is to determine the optimum geometry and different kinds of nozzles location on the drilling tools face. The optimum geometry and its proper arrangement will allow the maximum use of specific mechanical energy drilling through its reduction and minimizing pressure losses to overcome flow resistance in the nozzles of a drill bit. In their previous work, the authors showed that hydraulic power is a very important aspect, affecting the loss of pressure at the bottom of a borehole. It has been shown that pressure losses at the bottom of a well account for 50-60% of all pressure losses in the drilling works. This article describes pressure losses, specific mechanic energy, total specific energy dependence of nozzle deployment on the cutting face of a drill bit used and distribution of mud flow through them. The authors have shown solutions used in drilling works. They propose a new indicator for determining the number of nozzles and their configuration. The new indicator decreases pressure losses at the bottom of a borehole.
